Many of the workshops discuss how data has become the lifeblood in the veins of web and mobile technologies and how this will develop in future. And the role of cities as data hubs will come under scrutiny, with the session “Bright Data, Big City” concentrating on how urban living will be changed by technologies which use real-time data.
There’s also a session on “community based business models” which should be of interest to those in the coworking scene. But as well as absorbing information, there’s an opportunity for start-ups and entrepreneurs to have their ideas heard through the Next Elevator Pitch competition.
Start-ups have until the end of this week (April 17) to apply to participate in the Elevator Pitch, which will allow 30 groups to present their ideas on stage to a panel of judges. The winner will receive a coaching day with Hanse Ventures, as well as a one-semester at the Founders Institute Berlin, worth €6000 together.
But just as valuable is the opportunity to talk about your concept in front of the Next audience, which is typically well connected, well funded and interested in new ideas.
This week the Next Elevator Pitch team announced a relaxation of the definition of “start-up” to allow more groups to enter. Now, they can be up to 3 years old and already have funding.
The conference is a premium-priced event, but there are options for those who can't afford a full-priced ticket. NEXT provides discounted tickets for students and young professionals.
